As most of you know by now, IBM has signed an agreement to sell the U2 Product Line to Rocket Software, a global software development company and a trusted IBM partner.
The U2 team are tremendously excited, given Rocket’s stated commitment to U2 technology, intent to grow the U2 business, and longstanding expertise in the software marketplace.
In anticipation of the deal’s completion Andy Youniss, Rocket CEO, held three virtual Town Hall Meetings to share his plans for the future. He also addressed attendees at U2 University in Denver and will travel to the UK to speak at U2U Liverpool in October.
The IBM U2 team would like to take this opportunity to thank all of their partners and customer for their
commitment to the U2 products.

The acquisition of U2 by Rocket Software has not affected plans for U2 University, which will be held as scheduled. One thing that has changed, however, is the addition of information on Rocket Software and what the acquistion means for you.
U2 University Denver, held in September, was a huge success according to the positive attendee comments IBM received. The four-hour tutorials were well attended and their first-ever hands-on-labs enjoyed overflow attendance and rave reviews.
Andy Youniss, Rocket’s CEO, spoke during Susie Siegesmund’s keynote address. He introduced Rocket
and outlined his vision for U2 for the future. He will do the same at U2 University in Liverpool in just a few weeks.
Other highlights included the U2 Support Kiosk, where attendees had their support questions handled in person, and the partner presentations and information kiosks. These will be repeated in Liverpool.
In light of the U2 community’s interest in the acquisition, IBM have added
a one-day pass for those who cannot attend the conference for all three days but would be
interested in the non-technial business keynote and product roadmap presentations delivered
on Day 1. (For those enrolled for all three days, the keynote and roadmaps are already
included.)
